Standard and Gessler LED indication — reading luminaire faults

Distinguish the status LED from the main light. Function test, readout after complete power removal and an animated single-luminaire simulator.

LUMINAIRE LED INDICATION

Choose an animated scenario or operate the luminaire manually. The main light source and small status LED are shown separately.

Manual controls →

First run a controller function test

Open the channel, group and luminaire card. Start a function test (TF), confirm the command and wait for completion. Check the controller result and observe the small status LED. Green blinking during a test is not a passing result.

Open the single-luminaire simulator.

If a controller test is unavailable

Qualified personnel only: safely isolate mains and verify absence of voltage, then disconnect the battery. Both sources must be disconnected. Reconnect the battery first, then restore mains. Do not work on the battery with dangerously accessible mains voltage.

If a fault remains, the Standard profile indicates its type for approximately 30 seconds: fast red blinking = LED fault; slow red blinking = battery fault. It then changes to steady red rather than flashing indefinitely. Steady red does not mean the fault has been repaired. Removing mains alone while the battery is connected is not complete power removal.

Standard — color and rhythm

Status indicator Meaning
Steady green Healthy condition with mains available
Fast green blinking Function test
Slow green blinking Duration test
Fast red during readout LED source fault
Slow red during readout Battery fault
Steady red after readout Fault remains; read it again or check the report
Off on mains loss Tester indicator off; this does not prove that the main light is off

A short Standard TEST press reads the fault; it does not start a new test. With simultaneous LED and battery faults, the tester model prioritizes battery indication; check the test result for all faults. The approximate 30 seconds apply to the described Standard readout after TF/restart, not every profile or test type.

Gessler — count flashes per series

Indicator / count Meaning
Steady green Healthy condition
1 green flash Test running
2 green flashes Modem fault
1 red flash Battery fault
3 red flashes Temperature / overtemperature
4 red flashes LED fault

Gessler series repeat with a pause. Do not interpret them as Standard fast/slow patterns or assume a change to steady red after 30 seconds. The selected profile must match the device. A short Gessler TEST press starts or stops the function test when conditions allow.

Use the animation

Choose a scenario and press Play. Scrub through it with the slider or skip past the blinking window. In manual mode, click mains and battery, inject faults and run a simulated controller test. Main light and status indicator are separate. One test minute is represented by 15 seconds here; Standard diagnosis shows 30 seconds of simulation time.

This is a demonstration, not a measurement of an installation. Patterns follow the simulator tester model; older devices or different settings may differ. Verify the profile and result against the actual control-gear documentation. Mesh indicates communication and is not a Standard/Gessler diagnostic profile here.
